Thunderbirds of Queensland
Inc.
The Thunderbirds of
Queensland Inc. was formed and incorporated in 1990 as a State of
Queensland alternative to the national “Thunderbird Owners Club of
Australia”.
We pride
ourselves on a commitment to the preservation of Ford’s icon, the
Thunderbird, and base the club on a firm foundation of social activities
for the fun and enjoyment of our special automobiles.
Membership fluctuates between 60 and 70 members per year depending upon
Thunderbird ownership and member enthusiasm. The core group of members and
club committee in Brisbane, the State’s capital, keep things running
smoothly and meet on the first Friday of each month for a meeting and
social evening. We organise at least one club run a month which along
with other car culture events on the calendar make for a busy schedule.
Thunderbird lovers are Ford lovers and this is reflected in our policy
inviting owners of 30 year and older American Fords to join our ranks if
they are interested in being involved in our club. Besides a healthy list
of Thunderbirds ranging in age from 1955-1980 we have a number of other
classic Fords which include two 1962 Ford Galaxie 500 Sunliners, a 1967
Ford Galaxie 500 Convertible, three Mercury Cougars, a 1969 Ford XL
Convertible, a 1971 Ford Ranch Wagon and two 1973 Mustangs.
Life is
short and our social lives should be as much fun as possible, owning a
Ford Thunderbird and being part of the Thunderbirds of Queensland has made
that fun a reality for all of us. |
